PRESS RELEASE
Habitat for Humanity to expand into Oceanside
Local Island Resident donates $150,000
Habitat for Humanity Mid-Vancouver Island is thrilled to announce an anonymous donation of $150,000 from a local Vancouver Island resident.
The donor recognized the need for affordable housing in Parksville/Qualicum, and has provided the donation to assist Habitat with the purchase of land in the Oceanside area. The donor understands the need for affordable, safe housing within Mid-Vancouver Island communities. This donation will allow Habitat to enter into a land purchase, and build homes for low income families.
According to Habitat for Humanity Board President Max Stocker, “This substantial gift will give a tremendous boost to our efforts in the Oceanside area. We are incredibly grateful to this donor for coming forward at this time of high land prices to assist us in our expansion into the Oceanside Community.
Habitat for Humanity builds modest and practical homes for low income families that would not have the opportunity in the commercial lending market to purchase a home.
Habitat for Humanity Mid-Vancouver Island will be starting a building project in the next few weeks in Ladysmith, and is seeking affordable land for single family dwellings and duplexes in Nanaimo, Parksville, Qualicum and Port Alberni.
